I just uprgaded one of our ESX clusters from ESX 3.5u3 to ESX4. The upgrade when smoothly but we are having a significant issue with some of the virtual machines after the vmware tools update and virtual machine hardware update. We have a group of 4 virtual machines that process financial transactions, that were working without issue prior to the upgrade, that now have the application crash frequently. Corresponding to the crashes are events in the application log from a source of vmStatsProvider with the description of the events listed below. The minute these occure the application crashes. I'm removing vmware tools this evening during a maintenance window to see if it helps, but I was wondering what these were about. There are about 15 other virtual machines in this grouping of ESX servers that don't appear to be having an issue.
