Hello,

i just tried to convert a vm guest (win2003 windows box with 150gb single partition) to

an .OVA File. The Export itself was ok, no errors.

Run VMware vCenter Converter again to upload the OVA file back to another ESX SPHERE CLUSTER (branch office and low speed wan link),

but i receive the following error:

FAILED: Not enough space to download, extract or create the OVF/OVA file

Set the %temp% %tmp% variables to my usb hd.. and FIXED this issue but ..

Run VMware vCenter Converter again and this time i receive

FAILED: Unable to extract the OVA file....   (after 1-3 minutes 1-4%)

Any help with this issue is much appreciated.

UPDATE: is this the issue? copied it from Release Notes VMWare Converter:

Third-Party Formats

NEW You cannot create a valid OVA image if any of the source disks is larger than 8GB

If you convert a virtual machine source that has one or more disks larger than 8GB to an OVA image, the conversion task completes successfully, but the resulting OVA image is not valid.

Workaround: If any of the source .vmdk files is larger than 8GB, convert the source virtual machine to OVF files instead of OVA image.

NEW You cannot convert OVA image sources if they contain virtual disk files larger than 8GB

If you try to convert an OVA image source that is larger than 8GB, the OVA extraction fails and Converter Standalone does not deploy the target virtual machine to the destination. This issue occurs if any of the source .vmdk files of the OVA image is larger than 8GB. The issue is not observed if you deploy virtual machines from OVF source files.

Workaround: If any of the source .vmdk files is larger than 8GB, deploy virtual machines from the OVF files instead of the OVA image.

So i started to convert the vm guest to .ovf (still running  @70%) and in case if this does not work iam uploading (ftp) all "vmdk files" to my vCenter's local partition to start a convert task from there.

any suggestions ? wish me luck

thanks, uxmax
