Hey
I have the vSphere 4.0 Update 2 Essentials Plus package which does not include vMotion or storage vMotion. We have new storage that I need to migrate my VMs to so without vMotion, I have to use scheduled tasks to shut down a VM, migrate the VM and power up the VM. What I want to to is to run a script to shutdown the VM which once completed, automatically migrates the VM and once that task is completed, powers on the VM again. At the moment, the only way I can see to migrate my VMs is to run a scheduled task to shut down the VM, run another scheduled task (leaving enough time for the VM to shut down) to migrate the VM. As I have no way of knowing how long the migration will take, I would have to monitor the task and then manually power the VM back on. This would be a nightmare as I need to do the migrations during the night. Can anyone please suggest a way I can accomplish what I need to do without staying up all night?
Cheers
Liam
