ESX partition vmkcore and /boot where are they ?

Hi, I am trying to understand esx partitioning. As per the ESX_VC installation guide, http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_esx_vc_installation_guide.pdf on PAge 59 and 60 they have mentioned that /boot and vmkcore are physical partitions btu when I go to the

datastore browser I dont see them, I see a core-dump and log files.

I have attached the print screen for your reference.  Any idea why it is so? And where are the boot and vmkcore partitions ?
